Brussels Sprouts with Mushrooms

Serves 4  

1 pound Brussels sprouts, washed, hard bottoms removed, and thinly sliced*
8 oz white bottom mushrooms, thinly sliced*
1 onion, thinly sliced*
3 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced*
½ cup water
Black pepper

Let all the sliced vegetables* sit at the room temperature for several minutes. 
Boil water in a skillet or wok, add onion and garlic, and cook stirring costantly until the onion is softened. Add the remaining vegetables, mix well, cover, and steam until they are tender but Brussels sprouts are still nice and green. 
Season with black pepper to taste.
